# Monetarium 2

An illustrated identity for conversations about the future of money

Art direction, brand design and motion2025

Confusion Capital’s second Monetarium brought economists, policymakers and builders together in Washington, D.C., for three days of conversations about money. I developed an illustrated identity that connected the city’s institutions with nature and exchange. I carried it through stage design, print and motion, working with the audiovisual production team on the event films.

## Institutions, nature and exchange

I paired Washington’s monuments with oak leaves and cherry blossoms to connect institutional longevity with the city’s natural landscape. Hands introduce exchange; isometric RToken cubes connect the composition to Reserve’s modular funds.

## Stage and space

The backdrops had to keep attention on the speakers, both in the room and in the recordings. I used a restrained composition and textures that retained detail out of focus. The identity was applied to the stage, interview sets, photowall and screens.

On camera

Artwork and a frame from the event recording: the fine textures sit behind the speakers without competing with their faces.

## Print and merchandise

For the shirt, I kept the RToken cubes as a small front mark and recomposed the illustration into a restrained back print. The motifs carry the identity without a large logo dominating the garment.

### Speakers, agenda and screens

I used a shared layout for speaker announcements, the agenda and stage screens, adapting the hierarchy to the information each format needed.

## Motion

## The first edition · 2024

The first edition began with a quilt of drawings about energy, nature and exchange. The 2025 identity carried that approach into Washington’s architecture and a wider set of event applications.
