Catalina Vásquez Salazar (Kathiuska) is an Art Director, visual designer, and illustrator from Medellín, Colombia. With over 10 years of experience, her work focuses on building visual identities and campaigns for digital and physical spaces. Her portfolio includes projects for technology and cultural brands such as Snapchat, Canva, Airbnb, Reserve, and Confusion Capital.
In her commercial practice, Catalina translates complex technical systems into accessible human narratives. Working as a creative consultant in the fintech and Web3 sectors, she partners with cross-functional teams to shape visual strategy. She received an ADC Silver Cube Award in New York for her illustration work on the Wake&Make project for Upwork.
Parallel to her design work, Catalina maintains an independent practice as a filmmaker and graphic narrator. Her work explores the plasticity of the image to bridge personal memory with collective identity. A graduate of the University of Antioquia, she was a resident at the Maison des Auteurs (Angoulême, France). Her short film Cárcel was featured in the Official Selection at DOK Leipzig and the Málaga Film Festival, and she received the India Catalina Award for Best New Creator for her documentary Reciclando Recuerdos.
In 2021, her project Geraldine was selected by the Goethe-Institut for a Global South comics anthology, weaving together narratives of ecological activism and LGBTIQ+ rights. She is currently pursuing a Master’s in Latin American Cultural Studies at Javeriana University. This academic background focuses on how meaning is produced and how to identify gaps in cultural narratives, grounding her art direction and independent projects in real social patterns and collective behavior.
